Michelle paints her father’s country, showing how tjala (honey ants) tunnel through the sandy soil

Michelle says ‘I am painting the landscape from above, as you might see it from an airplane or as a bird looking down. It is beautiful country both from on the ground and up above’

It’s been another fabulous Artists In Residence week at spectacular @longitude131

Ernabella artists and life long friends Atipalku Intjalki and Yurpiya Lionel soaked up the wonderful ambience, hospitality and inspiring vistas

It was a delight chatting to the lovely guests who were mesmerised watching the ladies as their stories unfurled on canvas - Atipalku painting her father’s Country and Yurpiya depicting Anumara which is both a place and a type of caterpillar

Heartfelt thanks to the incredible team at Longitude 131 who always welcome the artists so warmly and make us feel at home - the artists all look forward to this Residency program and greatly appreciate the quiet time spent here

Imiyari made delicious damper, Tjulyata, Langaliki and Vivian cooked and carved up the malu wipu (kangaroo tails) and Lynette Lewis captured it all in watercolour
